Just a quick test to compare the EF 50mm f/1.2 to the EF 85mm f/1.2 II both at f/1.2 |

This is just a quick test if somebody wants to see the difference between these two excellent lenses.
Not very scientific and not even the same distance to compensate for the different focal lengths, just handheld
real life shots.

I haven't done any direct comparision between the two lenses (this is the closest so far), but the EF 85mm f/1.2 II
seems a bit sharper wide open. In real world situations like this, the image quality is pretty close (except from the
different background blur because of the different focal lengths of course!). I have heard about the focus issues for the 50mm, but this seems more like a problem for close-ups (and I did not buy this lens for close-ups!). Again, in real world situations, it's a nice lens, a lot quicker than the 85mm and a lot smaller. |
